The country’s consumer price index for last September recorded a level of 107.82 points, an increase of 0.33 percent compared to August 2024, and by 0.82 percent on an annual basis compared to the same month (September) of the year 2023.

The index, which measures inflation, includes 12 main groups of consumer goods, including 737 goods and services, and was calculated on the base year of 2018, according to the results calculated from the data of the Household Income Expenditure Survey (2017-2018).

A statement issued today by the National Planning Council stated that the monthly increase is due to an increase in seven groups: the entertainment and culture group by 3.15 percent, followed by the education group by 1.31 percent, the other goods and services group by 1.09 percent, the clothing and footwear group by 0.90 percent, and the Restaurants and hotels by 0.26 percent, the communications group by 0.21 percent, and the furniture and home appliances group by 0.08 percent.

As for the decrease, it occurred in the food and beverages group by 0.99 percent, followed by the transportation group by 0.75 percent, and the housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels group by 0.44 percent, while there was no change in the tobacco and health groups.

While the annual increase when comparing the month of September 2024 with the corresponding month in 2023 (annual change), is due to the increase in five groups: the entertainment and culture group by 12.57 percent, the other goods and services group by 6.24 percent, the communications group by 3.96 percent, and the Restaurants and hotels by 2.74 percent, and the education group by 1.04 percent.

The indices for the rest of the basket groups showed a decline, as the housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels group recorded a rate of 4.17 percent, the food and beverages group recorded a rate of 3.30 percent, the health group registered a rate of 1.63 percent, the furniture and household appliances group registered a rate of 1.52 percent, and the clothing and shoes group registered a rate of 1.26 percent. and the transportation group by 0.34 percent, while there was no change in the tobacco group.

When calculating the consumer price index for September 2024, after excluding the group of housing, water, electricity, gas and other types of fuel, the number reached 112.07, recording an increase of 0.49 percent compared to the previous month (August 2024), and an increase of 2.00 percent compared to the corresponding month in 2023. .
