The General Authority of Civil Aviation announced the rise in the movement of aircraft at Hamad International Airport, last May, by 1.3 percent year on an annual basis, compared to the same period in 2024, while the number of passengers also increased by 1 percent compared to May 2024.
The authority stated, in a publication through its official accounts on social media, that the movement of aircraft increased to 23288 movement in May 2025 compared to 22,991 air movement in May of last year, adding that the number of passengers in turn increased to four million and 206 thousand passengers, compared to four million and 163 thousand passengers in the same month of 2024.
The authority also pointed to the increase in shipping and mail, in May 2025, by 4.7 percent, where it recorded 220,115 tons compared to 210,245 tons in May 2024.
Nine freedoms to avoid
In another context, the General Authority of Civil Aviation published the list of freedoms included in the air services agreements expected by the Air Transport Department in the authority, with the aim of expanding the network of the national carrier and linking the State of Qatar to the countries of the world, which is classified into 9 categories, the most important of which are:

-The airline’s right to land in a foreign country for non -commercial technical reasons such as refueling or emergency situations, or conducting a plane maintenance without taking or landing passengers, goods, or mail.

The right of the airline to transport passengers, goods and mail from the region of a foreign country to the region of the plane’s sexual state.
-The airline is the right to transport passengers, goods and mail from the territory of a foreign country to the territory of another foreign country during a flight that begins or ends in the country of the nationality of the plane.
The right of the airline to transport passengers, goods and mail between two foreign countries, while stopping in the nationality of the plane.
-The airline is the right to transport passengers, goods, and mail between two foreign countries without starting or ending from the nationality of the plane.
-The airline is the right to transport passengers, goods, and mail between two points or more within the region of a foreign country during a flight that begins or ends from the nationality of the plane.

The bilateral and comprehensive agreements signed by the State of Qatar in the field of air transport are the cornerstone of strengthening its position as one of the most important airlines in the world. These efforts reflect Qatar’s ambitious vision to be a major player in the global aviation sector, by expanding its air network and developing the comprehensive agreement.
International cooperation
There is also great cooperation with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), where the State of Qatar is effectively participating in the specialized committees in the field of air transport in the organization, in order to ensure the view of the developments of this industry and participate in international decision -making. There is also cooperation with the Arab Civil Aviation Organization, where the State of Qatar participates effectively in the specialized committees in air transport in this organization with the aim of achieving the common interests of the Arab countries to preserve its leadership in the air transport industry.
The General Authority of Civil Aviation in the State of Qatar is also cooperating with other organizations that have an affair in the air transport industry, such as the International Air Transport Federation (IATA), to see the policies, standards and best practices in the air transport industry. This diverse and comprehensive cooperation helps to enhance the civil aviation industry in Qatar, and to make it among the strongest competitors at the global level.
