The old Doha Port announced the launch of the external air conditioning project along the waterfront and the wooden walkway in the Al -Mina district, in a step to improve the visitor experience and install the port’s position as one of the main tourist destinations in the country.

A statement of the port today stated that the project work is scheduled to start next June, to be completed before the start of the upcoming version of the Qatar Boat Fair 2025, to be activated and operated in the next summer season.

The innovative air conditioning system will extend along the Mina neighborhood walkway, covering more than 530 meters long from walking and hiking paths, commercial interfaces, and external seating courtyards, providing a comfortable and safe environment for visitors throughout the year, especially during the hot summer months.

The statement pointed out that the external refrigeration system will provide adequate cooling and refrigeration rate in the hot summer months while preserving the features of the coastal beauty of the port, by using advanced networks of cold water transport pipes connected to the ventilation holes consistent with the designs of the Al Mina neighborhood buildings and the architectural language that characterizes the port. Glass panels will also be installed on the outdoor edges of the walkway to ensure the efficiency of the system and retain cold air, which will provide a comfortable atmosphere for visitors without blocking the marine view.

Engineer Mohamed Abdullah Al Mulla, CEO of the old Doha Port, said: “The project represents a pivotal station in the process of converting the old Doha port into a vital destination throughout the year. For the port development strategy, where the marks of the ancient heritage meet the future infrastructure features to upgrade all aspects of the port.

It is noteworthy that this initiative is based on three main goals: increasing the number of visitors throughout the year, and enhancing the level of comfort along the walkway, which includes a series of restaurants and shops, in addition to improving the quality of the daily life of the port. Sustainability practices in the design of the external air conditioning system were taken into account to include energy -saving units and smart control technologies to ensure maximum efficiency and reduce the negative impact on the environment.
