The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority confirmed that the joining of Statlaite Qatar to the local telecommunications market supports competitiveness and expands consumer options, in line with the vision of Qatar 2030. The authority stated through its official account with the X platform that the company obtained the license to provide high -speed space internet services to individuals and companies in Qatar.

A few days ago, Starlink announced the inauguration of the Internet services via satellite users in the State of Qatar, after obtaining the license from the Communications Regulatory Authority, noting that the service provides a high -speed connection through a constellation of satellite in the low ground orbit, at download speeds ranging between 150 and 500 Mbps.
In turn, a number of experts and specialists in the telecommunications and technology sector praised the Arabs of their opinions on the step of launching the “Starlink” space internet service in the State of Qatar, considering that it represents a qualitative shift towards promoting digital sovereignty and achieving strategic flexibility in communications infrastructure.
The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority had issued an individual license in September 2022 to provide public satellite networks and services to Starlink STARET Qatar LLC, after a decision was issued by His Excellency Mr. Mohammed bin Ali Al Mannai, Minister of Communications and Information Technology in this regard.
Starlink Satellite Qatar was founded in the State of Qatar by the leading global company “Spacex”. This license is authorized to Starlink Satellite Qatar to provide broad -satellite internet services through individuals and institutions in the State of Qatar, via a constellation of Speus X satellites in low Earth orbit, as it provides comprehensive coverage of Internet service around the world. The main services that the company intends to provide in the State of Qatar include an essential internet service that will be provided to the consumer directly via satellite, and a distinguished service designed specifically for companies and large users, and this service provides a download speed ranging from 150 to 500 Mbps and a transition range ranging from 20 to 40 milliliters. This is in addition to other services that may benefit local mobile phone operators.
The license granted to Starlink Satellite Qatar contributes to enhancing the availability of telecommunications services in locations far from the mainland, especially in areas where the services of the current licensed companies are not fully available (such as oil and gas platforms in the sea, ships, yachts, and planes), and in providing complementary and alternative communications to consumers individual and institutions, in addition to providing reserve communication throughout the State of Qatar in The state of a major interruption in communications networks.
The granting of this license corresponds to international trends in the field, as the license contributes to the development of the telecommunications and information technology sector, in addition to encouraging more foreign investments in the country, and thus diversifying the local economy, which supports Qatar National Vision 2030. This individual license was granted after consulting with the stakeholders and government agencies concerned.
