Al -Ghazawiya, Umm Muhammad, seeks help to save her children from slow death

Between the walls of modest shelter in the Gaza Strip, Umm Muhammad Abu Odeh lives in a vehicle tragedy, as her family suffers from a series of chronic diseases due to malnutrition and the collapse of the health sector due to the continuous Israeli siege and aggression on Gaza.

Umm Muhammad, a mother of eight children, says that two of her children suffer from serious illnesses, foremost of which is an enlarged veins and arteries in the digestive system, and advanced functions, which calls for urgent surgeries, including a process of linking vessels, the family cannot provide its costs, due to the poverty of the situation and the absence of specialized health care in Gaza.

She stated that her 25 -year -old son, is in urgent need to grow liver, stressing that his health is deteriorating and faces the risk of death at any moment, in light of the inability of the health system to provide the lowest levels of treatment.

Umm Muhammad explained that the diseases that were afflicted with their children came as a result of years of bad nutrition and the absence of a healthy diet, noting that food prices in the sector have become exorbitant, and most families cannot provide the basic needs of their children.

Despite the intensification of suffering, Umm Muhammad confirms her adherence to staying in the Gaza Strip, stressing that her only wish is to go out to treat her children, not to leave the country.

She says that “the soil of Gaza is not insulted,” adding that steadfastness in the face of the siege is an inevitable amount.
