Qatar has succeeded in consolidating its position as an important participant in the scene of artificial intelligence in the Middle East and North Africa and globally, by developing artificial intelligence solutions that are compatible with its long -term strategic goals. The adoption of artificial intelligence in sectors such as health care, financial services and transportation is a major shift in the country’s technological infrastructure.
The State of Qatar comes at the forefront of the regional scene, as it has taken advanced steps to consolidate its position within the map of global artificial intelligence, through ambitious national strategies and billion investments in digital infrastructure.
A report by the PWC Research Company (PWC) has dealt with the total economic impact of artificial intelligence on the economies of 7 Arab countries, Egypt, the Emirates and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in addition to Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman and Qatar until 2030.
Incentives and investments
The report touched on the allocation of the State of Qatar, a large incentive package for artificial intelligence worth 9 billion riyals (2.47 billion dollars), which was announced at the Fourth Qatar Economic Forum in order to implement the digital transformation program to increase its investments in the fields of technology, innovation and artificial intelligence. The Qatar Investment Authority (QIA) is also planning a major investment in the Ardian Semiconductor, a fund created by the French Special Parks Company Ardian Investment in the semiconductor industry throughout Europe.
Anthropic, emerging in the field of artificial intelligence, also announced that the Qatar Investment Authority has become one of its major investors, after a financing tour targeting 13 billion dollars, with the company’s value estimated at about 183 billion dollars. This investment places Qatar among the main players in the field of artificial intelligence, as the fund joins major companies such as Amazon and Goldman Sachs, on the list of investors in ANTPROPIC.
Strategic agreements
Qatar’s efforts also included strategic agreements such as the agreement with the American SCALE AI to develop more than 50 government projects in the field of artificial intelligence, as well as a joint research committee with Queen Mary University in London. In 2024, Qatar launched the Finar platform aimed at supporting and developing artificial intelligence applications for the Arabic language, which is an important step in enhancing Arab content in the field of technology.
Enhancing innovation and efficiency
Qatar seeks to enhance its smart cities initiatives using artificial intelligence to enhance innovation and efficiency. – Developing an integrated digital environment that attracts local, regional and international partners to attract more of them in order to increase the partners ’network and accelerate the adoption of artificial intelligence.
