During their 11 meeting, which was held today, Saturday, a number of decisions and initiatives aimed at developing the Gulf health system and enhancing cooperation between the GCC states.
The General Secretariat of the Cooperation Council stated in a press statement that the results of the meeting included the adoption of the Gulf strategic outputs to combat drugs regarding the component of treatment and rehabilitation, as well as approving a unified action plan for the Health Ministers of Health Committee for the period from 2026 to 2030, according to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA).
She pointed out that it was approved to start the second stage of classification and registration procedures for health practitioners in the countries of the Council, and the completion of the requirements of international health regulations for the year 2005 and their amendments approved in 2024.
She indicated that the meeting stressed the importance of strengthening the work of the joint committee for health cities according to the future visions of the countries of the Council, in addition to launching the Cooperation Council Award for Health Excellence, which aims to motivate innovation and quality of health services.
She pointed out that the ministers stressed the need to adopt innovation and digital transformation in the Gulf health sector, and to enhance health cooperation with international and regional countries and organizations, in addition to developing programs to care for persons with disabilities and reduce the causes of disabilities.
