Scars often represent a great psychological burden, especially if they are large or in a prominent place such as the face or hand. How can these scars be dealt with?

To answer this question, German physical therapist Nils Bringland explained that if the scar represents a purely cosmetic problem, simple cosmetic solutions can be resorted to, such as modifying skin color using camouflage makeup or tattoos.

Bringland added that the scar may also represent a health problem, as it may be accompanied by functional disorders, which occur, for example, if the scar is tight and restricts movement.

In this case, surgical correction can be used. Scars can be corrected, for example, by removing them and closing them with finer surgical sutures.

Psychological treatment can also be used, such as cognitive behavioral therapy, which teaches the injured person coping strategies in order to accept the scar and live with it.
