The festival of racing purebred Arabian camels on the sword of His Highness the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani is one of the most prominent and important heritage and sporting events in the State of Qatar, as it combines the fragrance of the past with the spirit of modern competition, and attracts wide public interest from inside and outside the country. For a long time, the Camel Racing Organizing Committee has been sparing no effort to prepare for the launch of the most expensive festivals. Today, with the start of the first day of the expensive festival, we had to learn from Mubarak bin Badi Al Nuaimi, Director of the Racing and Activities Department of the Camel Racing Organizing Committee, the latest arrangements and preparations for the festival, which continues until the 30th of this month. Throughout the period from today until the end of the month, there will be great excitement and great passion.
Hence, Mubarak bin Badi Al Nuaimi confirmed that all preparations for the launch of this major annual event have been completed, indicating that work is being conducted according to a precise plan that ensures that the festival is organized with the highest level of professionalism.
Mubarak Al Nuaimi explained that the organizing committee is always in a state of complete readiness to hold the races on the Al Sheehaniya track, which is considered one of the most prominent camel tracks in the region. He added that the Prince’s Sword Festival enjoys a special status, not only for its heritage value, but also for the huge prizes it offers, whether in cash or in kind, which enhances the volume of participation and increases the strength of the competition between the best purebred camels in different age groups.
Mubarak Al Nuaimi pointed out that the preparations were not limited to preparing the field only, but also included forming various organizational committees, setting dates for pre-examinations, and preparing the laboratory’s samples section, to ensure compliance with all technical and health standards. The registration office also plays a pivotal role in receiving participants and organizing the registration process, which contributes to the smooth flow of work before the start of the competitions.
Al Nuaimi stressed that this year’s edition of the Prince’s Sword Festival is witnessing unprecedented records, especially in the Sunnah Al Haqayeq category, as 100 races have been allocated to this category, a number recorded for the first time in the festival’s history. 60 laps have also been approved for the event, which reflects the large turnout by owners and racers, and confirms the growing status of this event on the map of camel racing in the region.
At the conclusion of his speech, Al Nuaimi stressed that these record numbers and the integrated organization reflect the organizing committee’s keenness to develop the festival year after year, in line with the position of the State of Qatar in supporting and preserving traditional sports, stressing that the fans are on a date with strong and exciting competitions befitting the name of this great event.
