6 months deadline to reconcile the situations of those affected by Law 23 regarding water

His Excellency Engineer Saad bin Sherida Al Kaabi, Minister of State for Energy Affairs, issued Resolution No. (7) of 2026, extending the deadline for regularization of status for those subject to the provisions of Law No. (23) of 2025 regarding water for an additional six months, starting from June 19, 2026.
The Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation “Kahramaa” explained, in a post on its “X” platform account, that the decision comes within the framework of completing the system of legislation regulating the water sector in the country, and supporting efforts for sustainable management of water resources in accordance with the approved legal frameworks.
It is noteworthy that Law No. (23) of 2025 regarding water is a strategic step to enhance water security and achieve sustainability in the management of water resources for future generations, by adopting an integrated approach to managing various water sources and activating monitoring and control programs.
The law establishes a comprehensive framework for drawing up water policies to support sustainable economic development, and regulates the exploitation of groundwater through specific controls and standards for drilling wells and reducing the depletion of water reserves.
