Al Sadd announces the departure of its Moroccan defender Romain Saiss

Al-Sadd Club announced today the departure of its Moroccan player Romain Saiss from the team following the expiration of his contract with the club, which he joined in July 2023 from Besiktas in Turkey.

The club expressed, on its official account on the “X” platform, its thanks to the player after the expiration of his contract, wishing him success in his upcoming career.

Saiss, the 36-year-old defender, played three seasons with Al Sadd, during which he helped win the Qatari Football League title three times in a row, in addition to the 2024 Emir Cup title.

The Moroccan defender played 86 matches with his country, during which he scored 3 goals, and was one of the influential elements in a historic achievement for the Moroccan national team, which achieved fourth place in the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.

Saiss announced his retirement from international football after the end of the 2025 African Cup, which was held from December 21 to January 18 last year.

The Moroccan defender previously played for several French clubs, before moving to English club Wolverhampton in 2016, before joining Turkish club Besiktas in 2022.
