The German food delivery group, Delivery Hero, announced that it had agreed to an acquisition deal from the American giant in the field of transportation requests, Uber, in a deal worth 12.7 billion euros ($14.6 billion).
The German company was founded in 2011, and now operates in more than 60 markets and is one of the largest food delivery groups in the world.
The company has also expanded beyond its traditional food delivery business into the “express trade” field, which is delivering small packages to customers.
Uber submitted an offer of 41.50 euros per share in Delivery Hero, valuing the deal at 12.7 billion.
Under this deal, Uber will acquire Delivery Hero’s activities in 50 markets around the world in Asia, Europe, South America and the Middle East.
The American investment company SSW Partners will acquire the German group’s activities in 14 other markets where Uber and Delivery Hero compete for 1.4 billion euros.
Delivery Hero said that its management recommends that shareholders approve the deal, which is expected to be completed during the second half of 2027.
