Mr. Abdul Rahman bin Hisham Al Suwaidi, CEO of Qatar Development Bank, confirmed that the bank’s updated strategy, in its first year, added tangible momentum to the bank’s overall work, to succeed in completing a group of strategic initiatives and projects, and to achieve exceptional levels of performance, exceeding the goals set in accordance with the bank’s vision aimed at building a vital business system in the State of Qatar, to raise the level of readiness of the private sector, to be more capable of facing various challenges and dealing with them efficiently and confidently.
This came during a speech in which he opened the annual report of Qatar Development Bank issued today, entitled “The Year of Empowerment 2025,” where he said: “We have worked to align our strategy with the various national strategies of partners to empower the national business system, which as a whole aims to achieve the country’s national vision 2030, in accordance with the determinants of the third national development strategy.”
He explained that in the context of the bank’s role as an enabling body working to activate the role of various elements of the private sector in the country, the bank sought to expand the horizons of cooperation and provide the opportunity for various national partners, whether in the government or private sector, to integrate tasks and achieve flexibility sufficient to stimulate sustainable development capable of evolving and adapting to changes, and benefiting from them by transforming them into promising opportunities, in addition to the bank’s support directed at strengthening strategic priority economic sectors and advancing economic diversification.
He pointed out that the report shows the increasing maturity of the entrepreneurship system in the State of Qatar. It sheds light on the development paths of various programs and projects in accordance with our strategic pillars. It also highlights, through the various indicators it reviews, the distinguished position of the State of Qatar as a rising center in the global leadership, innovation and investment scene.
The report reviews the bank’s most prominent achievements during the year 2025, as the bank’s business incubators and accelerators recorded more than 620 beneficiaries during the past year, and the bank’s investment portfolio exceeded 385 million riyals.
At the level of local business development, 3,100 companies benefited from the training and capacity building programs provided by the bank, and the volume of indirect financing (guarantees) amounted to more than 600 million riyals, while the value of direct financing approached 2 billion riyals.
With regard to activating the export system, the total value of Qatari exports supported by the bank amounted to about 2.85 billion riyals, and the total bank financing for export operations amounted to about 778 million riyals.
