When a phone bears the name iPhone and puts “Pro” at the end, its high value does not come alone, but is accompanied by a high ceiling of expectations. This price value requires a phone equal to its value and the reputation of “Apple,” whose releases are awaited by a wide audience around the world, who will not accept anything less than perfection or something close to it.
Did the iPhone 18 Pro pass this test?
According to a review published by Digital Trends after more than a month of actual use, the phone is “a refined formula that has improved and is ready for long-term use.”
Starting from the lens
The camera is the first thing that draws attention in this phone, and it received a score of 9 out of 10 according to this review. The main camera is 48 megapixels, with a variable aperture that appears for the first time this year, so pictures come out with good details and colors in bright and dim light, as well as portraits and selfies.
But the telephoto lens does not maintain the same level, as it loses some of its sharpness at 8x zoom, especially if the light is weak.
If we move from the lens to a busy work day, the battery comes to decide the round. The phone recorded 7 hours and 10 minutes to turn on the screen, and if it runs out of charge, a full charge only takes about 45 minutes. Thus, the battery got a score of 9 out of 10.
As for performance, it scored 9 out of 10. The A20 Pro processor handled successive measurement tests without overheating, which distinguishes it from some of its competitors. However, the phone had one misstep recorded: it froze for about 15 seconds while photographing at 8x zoom under the sun, then returned to normal.
On the visual side, the screen tops the ratings with a score of 9.5 out of 10, thanks to its brightness that can withstand direct sunlight, a feature whose value is known to those who live in a climate like the Gulf, and the smooth refresh rate of 120 Hz.
The design comes in 8.5 inches, so the phone maintains its compact size and ease of use with one hand, but its new burgundy color, despite its elegance, picks up fingerprints easily.
The weakest link
In the last chapter, the weak point appears. The iOS system is still a reference for smoothness and integration with Mac devices, and it received an 8 out of 10, but artificial intelligence is what kept the score lower. Siri lags behind Google’s Gemini in conversation, search, and integration with apps, and some AI photo editing tools are still immature.
Is it worth it?
The answer depends on where you are in the story. If you’re coming from an older version, shoot a lot, and want better battery and performance without moving to Pro Max, it’s a logical choice. If you are satisfied with the iPhone 17, there is no need to upgrade.
