His Excellency Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani, President of the Olympic Council of Asia, opened the “BAL4HER” stadium in the Senegalese city of Guediaoui, in a move aimed at providing a sports space that brings together young men and women around basketball, and gives them opportunities to meet and aspire.
The stadium is the first of its kind for the “BAL4HER” initiative in Africa, and is part of the partnership between the Qatar Foundation and the African Basketball League, which supports expanding opportunities to practice basketball and enhancing the presence of girls in the sports system on the continent.
His Excellency Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani praised the partnership, stressing that it contributed to transforming belief in the role of sports in empowering societies into reality, and expressing his thanks to Mr. Amadou Jallow Fall, President of the African Basketball League, and to everyone who contributed to the completion of the initiative.
