The Qatari sports cadre achieved a notable international achievement with Mr. Zamil Sayyaf Al Shahrani, former President of the Qatar Boxing and Wrestling Federation, winning the position of Vice President of the International Wrestling Federation (UWW). This came during the International Federation of Wrestling’s General Assembly elections that were recently held in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The elections witnessed wide participation from representatives of national federations from various countries of the world, as Al-Shahrani enjoyed the confidence of the General Assembly of the International Federation, due to his long sporting career and long administrative experience in developing the sport of wrestling at the regional and international levels, especially during his previous presidency of the Qatari and Arab Wrestling Federations and his continued membership in the International Executive Office.
This victory is considered a great gain for Qatari and Arab sports, and a guarantee to enhance the presence of Arab competencies in decision-making centers within international sports organizations, which contributes to supporting plans to develop and advance the game in the region and the world.
