The Government Communication Office has announced the completion of preparations to host the second edition of the Qatar web summit, which will start next Sunday, and continue until February 26, at the Doha Exhibition and Conference Center, with the participation of thousands of entrepreneurs, investors, leaders and technology experts from all over the world. This came during the press conference organized by “Governmental Communication” in partnership with the web summit, yesterday, to announce the final details of this year’s version of the largest technological event in the Middle East and North Africa, which comes within a partnership with the web summit that will extend until 2028, and aims to establish The position of the State of Qatar as a global center for technology and innovation.
The Government Communication Office revealed the participation of more than 25 thousand people in the activities of the summit, and more than 1500 startups, with the acquisition of companies that were established by women on 46% of the participating companies, and the growth of the number of participating Qatari startups by 140% from last year.
Global attention
The summit also witnesses the presence of more than 300 speakers and 600 investors, along with more than 150 partners, in addition to 600 media outlets from all over the world to cover the course of the summit, which reflects the increasing momentum of this global event.
In his speech during the conference, His Excellency Sheikh Jassim bin Mansour bin Jabr Al Thani, Director of the Government Communication Office and Chairman of the Standing Committee to host the web summit said, “Last year we hosted the first version of the Qatar web summit, which is the largest technological event in the Middle East and North Africa, which is An added value to the major events calendar in the State of Qatar, and the main goal of it is to develop the technology sector in the country and enhance its position as a pioneering regional center in this field.
“We believe that investing in innovation and technology will contribute to achieving sustainable development and economic growth, in line with the goals of Qatar National Vision 2030. We are confident that this year’s version will be more distinctive and creative, as the numbers reflect the interest of major technology companies and entrepreneurs from different countries of the world To participate in the Summit of Qatar, Qatar 2025.
Unprecedented participation
For his part, Mr. Badi Kosgerif, founder and CEO of the web, confirmed that this year’s version is witnessing unprecedented participation of startups, 85% of them from outside the State of Qatar, an increase of 50% over last year, and the number of investors participating increased by 50% from Previous version, 90% of them from outside Qatar as well, which reflects the accelerating growth of the event, its importance and the status of Doha as a global center for innovation and leadership Business.
Kosgerif praised the rapid growth of the entrepreneurial system in the State of Qatar, and added: “We are proud of the participation of more than 200 Qatari startups this year, which is a clear evidence of the development of the entrepreneurial environment in the country and the great support that these startups enjoy.
