A recent study revealed that the drugs used to treat obesity, such as Wigofi – which contains the active substance “Simiglotide” – can contribute to weight loss effectively without a significant loss in the muscle mass when following health guidelines.
The study was conducted by researchers from Donald College and Parbra Zucker Medicine in Hofstra/Northwail and Linux Hill Hospital of Northwel Health System in New York in the United States of America, and its results will be shown at the European Obesity Conference (2025) in Malaga, Spain on May 11-14, and wrote about the “Yurik Art” website.
The study was conducted on 200 adults (99 men and 101 women) who suffer from obesity, with an average body mass index of 31.4, where the participants received either Simiglotide or Terzopatid (Mondaru), as well as instructions for exercise and the amount of protein recommended under the supervision of doctors specializing in obesity.
The components of the body were measured from fats and muscles using the InBody 570, which is a device specializing in body composition analysis and provides accurate data on muscle, fat and water distribution, and after 6 months of follow-up the results showed that the participants lost an average between 12-13% of their weights, and this included the loss of 10.8 to 12 kilograms of fat and one kilogram loss or less than the muscles.
The secret of eating proteins and exercising
Patient data revealed that regularity in practicing resistance exercises and eating protein continuously had a relationship with success in losing weight while maintaining muscle mass and increasing physical strength, and the study continues as more data is collected to analyze the differences in weight loss, muscle mass and fats between the Terzepateid and Semaglotide real estate.
The researchers emphasized that the loss of some muscles is expected during weight loss, but it can be reduced by:
- Follow -up with a doctor who specializes in obesity.
- Commitment to a protein -rich diet.
- Exercise regularly, especially resistance exercises.
- Regularity on the medicine according to the doctor’s instructions.
