“Trade” organizes a workshop to distinguish between original and counterfeit goods

The Ministry of Trade and Industry, in cooperation with the Saba Intellectual Property Office in the State of Qatar, held a training workshop entitled “Examine original products and compare them with counterfeit products.”
The Ministry stated through its official account on the X platform that the workshop aims to raise awareness of the original brands and enhance the mechanisms of combating commercial fraud.
The Ministry of Commerce attaches great importance to combating counterfeit products, as the ministry represented in the Consumer Protection Department and Commercial fraud is keen to enhance the experiences of their judicial seizure officers, develop their capabilities and provide them with the new methods and methods to distinguish between the original goods and the other imitated of all kinds and forms.
The Consumer Protection Department at the Ministry follows a distinctive method to reduce the phenomenon of the spread of these counterfeit goods, by organizing workshops for the administration’s inspectors and in partnership with brand owners, in order to train on how to distinguish between original goods and counterfeit goods.
The Consumer Protection Law, in the text of Article (7) of Law No. (8) of 2008 regarding consumer protection, criminalized the sale and promotion of counterfeit materials for registered brands.
Pursuant to this article, the administration has seized all the seized quantities until the completion of the violation procedures and destroyed the seized goods.
These campaigns come out of the administration’s keenness to protect the consumer and its rights and obligate the suppliers to what is required by Law No. (8) of 2008, regarding the protection of the consumer.
