A recent scientific study found a relationship between stomach rhythms and mental health, as a result of the coincidence of the electrical activity of the brain with natural waves issued by the stomach in individuals.

The study, conducted by researchers at the American University of Arhos, confirmed that there is a strong interdependence between the coincidence of brain activity with the slow waves of the stomach that occurs every 20 seconds, regardless of eating, and psychological suffering, after analyzing the data of more than 240 people.

She explained that the increase in the synchronization of electrical activity between the brain and the natural waves of the stomach are related to the high levels of anxiety, depression and tension in humans, noting that scientists have relied in this result on the use of functional magnetic resonance and electrical stomach planning, and the brain activity matches with stomach rhythms.

Lea Panelis, the main author of the study, said that there is a strong link between the stomach and the brain in people who suffer from psychological tension, and if it is proven that the stomach and brain activity coincides is a fixed indication of the psychological state, this may open new prospects for diagnosis and treatment, noting that this study may help in designing treatments that take into account the patient’s body and brain interaction and not only his own feelings.
