A volunteer medical team launched a mobile clinic providing health care services inside displacement camps, targeting patients unable to move, including the elderly, the wounded, and pregnant women.
The clinic moves between shelter camps to provide general medicine, nursing, and physical therapy services, in an attempt to reduce the burdens faced by patients in light of the decline in health services and the difficulty of transportation.
Doctor Ayman Anbar, one of the volunteers in the team, told Al Jazeera that the initiative aims to deliver health care to patients where they are, explaining that the team includes dozens of doctors, nurses and specialists who provide field services to groups that face difficulty in reaching hospitals and clinics.
He added that the mobile clinic’s services include general medicine, nursing, and physical therapy, noting that the initiative came to alleviate the suffering of the sick and wounded in light of the difficulty of movement, the absence of means of transportation, and the long waiting periods inside health facilities.
In turn, volunteer doctor Jumana Hashem said that the team is working to provide medical care to patients within their places of displacement, thus relieving them of the hardship of moving to obtain treatment.
She added in her speech – to Al Jazeera – that the initiative is gaining special importance in light of the conditions taking place in the Gaza Strip, especially with the transportation crisis and the pressures facing patients, stressing that the continuation of such initiatives contributes to enhancing access to health services for the most needy groups.
A number of beneficiaries of the mobile clinic services expressed the importance of continuing these medical tours, noting that it provided them with the opportunity to obtain health care in light of the difficulties they face in reaching treatment centers.
