The US Agency for International Development said, in a note seen by Reuters, that the US -funded aid efforts should be resumed to treat diseases such as malaria, as well as to prevent newborn mortality and treat acute malnutrition.

After taking office last month, US President Donald Trump had ordered his office to freeze international aid until a review of it.

A week later, Foreign Minister Marco Rubio issued an illustration that indicates that the efforts to “save lives” are exempt from implementing this matter during that period, but organizations that work in the field are still confused about what is covered by this exemption.

The agency’s note aims to clarify what can be resumed now.

The memorandum stated that “these life -saving activities must be resumed or continued in the next thirty days of the 90 -day foreign aid, in order to prevent imminent deaths between the beneficiaries of the American Agency for International Development.”

The memorandum includes activities aimed at confronting tuberculosis and malaria and acute risks of mothers of mothers and children, including acute malnutrition and other diseases and health conditions that threaten life.
