Our national volleyball team qualified for the semi-finals of the Asian Challenge Cup, after defeating its Chinese counterpart by three games to zero in the match that was held yesterday in the quarter-finals of the tournament currently being held in Bahrain, and will continue until June 10th, which qualifies for the World Challenge Cup.
With his victory, Al-Annabi is close to qualifying for the World Challenge Cup, in which he previously won second place when it was held in Doha last year.
The match was strong, as Al-Annabi succeeded in winning the results of its rounds by (25-19, 25-19, and 25-19). Al-Anabi deserved to win after playing a great match over the course of the three games and was characterized by strong serves and blocking, which was a helpful factor in overcoming the strong Chinese team, especially since Al-Anabi’s victory in the first round match against Indonesia was an important factor for the team and gave confidence to the players, and thus it deserved to win, cross China, and qualify for the semi-finals.
Al-Anabi will meet in the next round tomorrow with the winner of the Kazakhstan-Australia match.
Al-Anabi had opened its matches in the group stage of this tournament against its South Korean counterpart, but lost at the beginning of its journey with a score of (2 – 3) after a strong match between the two teams. Then, it ended the first round by defeating its Indonesian counterpart in three games to no return, to qualify for the quarter-finals. After finishing in second place in the third group with 4 points behind the leading Korean team.
