Al-Sadd suffered its second loss in a row in the AFC Elite Champions League, after falling to Al-Hilal of Saudi Arabia with two unanswered goals, in the confrontation that brought them together in the second round of the tournament.
Ole and Davis scored goals for Al Hilal, leading the Saudi team to score three new points, raising its tally to 6 points, strengthening its start in the tournament, while Al Sadd remained without any point after two successive losses to Iranian Esteghlal and Saudi Al Hilal.
The first half witnessed Al Hilal Saudi controlling the course of the game, with continuous attempts to reach Al Sadd’s goal in search of scoring the lead goal. English striker Ollie Watkins succeeded in scoring Al Hilal’s first goal in the 40th minute of the match, giving his team the lead before the end of the first half. Al Hilal imposed its control over the course of the match, so Portuguese Ruben Neves was able to double the score in the 65th minute by scoring the second goal via a penalty kick that he successfully executed into the net.
This result places Al Sadd facing the need to correct its course in the upcoming rounds, in order to compensate for the faltering start and hold on to its hopes of competing to qualify for the next round, while Al Hilal continues its journey in the tournament with a full score of points after the first two rounds.
