The Board of Trustees of the Arab Union for Sports Culture held a meeting at exactly twelve o’clock yesterday at the Landmark Hotel in the Jordanian capital, Amman. The meeting was chaired by Mr. Mohammed Yousef Al-Manea, Chairman of the Board, in the presence of Ashraf Mahmoud, Chairman of the Union. The honorable members of the Board of Trustees: Minister Plenipotentiary Faisal Ghassal, Jamal Al-Sarayrah, Issa Hilal Al-Hizami, Dr. Imad Al-Banani, Dr. Ibrahim Al-Qannas, Mr. Zaid Khayami, Sheikh Badr Al-Rawas, and the Technical Secretariat of the Council: Dr. Amr Al-Haddad, Hassan Sharara, Hassan Masoud and Ayman Badra.
The meeting was opened by Ayman Badra, in his capacity as Secretary General of the Federation and member of the Technical Secretariat of the Board of Trustees. Mr. Ashraf Mahmoud, Chairman of the Federation, delivered a speech in which he welcomed the honorable Chairman and members of the Board of Trustees, wishing them success in their noble mission to serve Arab sports, refine its cadres, and spread the values and principles of sports. He considered the formation of the Board of Trustees to be a strong push for the Federation’s activities, the impact of which will be evident in Arab sports. Mr. Mohammed Yousef Al-Manea, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, delivered a speech in which he welcomed the honorable members and congratulated them on their selection to the Board of Trustees, praising their approval to join the Board and exert effort to assist the Federation’s Board of Directors in implementing its activities that aim to raise Arab sports.
The Chairman of the Board of Trustees opened the floor to the members to discuss the agenda, and the discussions resulted in the following:
– Approval of Doha hosting the annual conference and awards ceremony of the Federation in January 2025
– Launching a financial fund to support the Union’s periodic activities and attracting sponsors for the Union’s major annual activities.
– Participation in the activities of the Arab Sports Capital of Culture scheduled for Luxor in August 2024.
– Signing a memorandum of understanding between the Arab Federation for Sports Culture and the relevant federations (the Arab Federation for Sports for All, the Arab Federation for School Sports, and the Arab Federation for University Sports, provided that the signing takes place in Doha in conjunction with the conference.
– Approval to organize the Arab Sports and Cultural Special Olympics, provided that a circular is issued to the member states of the Federation to host it and set its date.
– Openness in working with the relevant sectors and interests of the Arab League and its administration.
– Authorizing Mr. Hassan Sharara to prepare a study that includes the financial cost of establishing a channel on YouTube.
– Develop a strategic plan for work during the coming period.
– Developing proposals for the annual Union Award categories and determining their numbers, provided that the proposals are sent to the Technical Secretariat to be submitted to the Board of Trustees for approval and to inform the Union’s Board of Directors of them.
The meeting concluded with a speech by Mr. Mohammed Yousef Al-Manea, Chairman of the Council, in which he thanked the members and stressed his great confidence that they will all do their utmost to ensure the success of the Council’s work and achieve the Union’s goals.
