The General Authority of Civil Aviation in Saudi Arabia announced the victory of an alliance consisting of three companies, by launching and operating a new low -cost Saudi airline as a new national economic air carrier at King Fahd International Airport in Dammam, Saudi Arabia.
The authority said, in a statement published on its account on the social media platform “X” today, that the new alliance includes the Emirati “Air” companies, “Kean Investment Holding” and “Nesma” Saudi Arabia, noting that the new carrier will serve 24 local destinations and 57 international destinations, and aims to transport 10 million passengers annually with a fleet of 45 aircraft.
The authority added that this step comes with the aim of strengthening the air linking of the eastern region in Saudi Arabia, increasing the seat capacity and providing competitive options for travelers.
In May 2024, the Saudi General Civil Aviation Authority launched competition to obtain a national economic carrier license at King Fahd International Airport in Dammam.
