This official choice came within the schedule of the activities of the Asian Basketball Federation for the years 2026-2028, which was adopted during the meeting of the AFC Board of Basketball on June 26, 2025, as Qatar will host this major championship with the participation of 16 Asian teams, in strong competitions
In this context, Mr. Mohammed bin Saad Al -Mugheisib, President of the Qatar Basketball Federation, said: “It is a great honor for us to host the Asian Cup under 1826, this continental championship, which represents an important platform for discovering and developing young talents in basketball from different countries of Asia. We are also proud to host the 2027 basketball World Cup for the first time in our region, a historical event that will put Qatar at the heart of the global sporting event. ”
