The English Football Referees Association officially decided today, Monday, to dismiss English referee David Coote from his position, after an investigation it conducted concluded that his actions represented a serious violation of his contract.
A video clip circulated on social media last month, showing Cote insulting Liverpool and its former coach Jurgen Klopp.
The English Premier League Arbitration Authority, PGMOL, said in a statement: “After completing a comprehensive investigation into David Coote’s conduct, his employment with the arbitration panel has been terminated today with immediate effect.”
The statement added: “David Coote’s actions were found to constitute a serious breach of the terms of his employment contract, with his position deemed untenable. David Coote’s support remains important to us and we remain committed to his well-being.”
The statement concluded: “David Cote has the right to appeal the decision to terminate his employment.”
