Conclusion of the Universities Rapid Chess Championship for the 2024-2025 sports season

The Universities Rapid Chess Championship competitions for the 2024-2025 sports season, organized by the Qatar University Sports Federation in cooperation with the Qatar Chess Federation, concluded from October 3 to 6 in the Qatar Foundation halls (student competitions) and the Community College hall (female students competitions).

At the conclusion of the student competitions, Omar Abu Arous (Qatar University) won first place, Muhannad Al-Hussein (Doha University of Science and Technology) came in second place, and Muhammad Maylath (Doha University of Science and Technology) won third place.

In the female students’ competition, Sarah Mozaffari won first place, Sinanur Kartel (Qatar University) took second place, and third place went to Victoria Honordez (Doha University of Science and Technology).

Participating in the ceremony of crowning the winners were Dr. Khaled Al-Horr, President of the Community College of Qatar, Mr. Rashid Saeed Adaiba – Secretary General of the Qatar University Sports Federation, and Mr. Hamad Al-Tamimi, Vice President of the Qatar Chess Federation.

Chess, electronic games, cross-country and swimming are among the new activities added and included in the Qatar University Sports Federation’s calendar for the 2024-2025 sports season.

Mr. Rashid Saeed Adiba, Secretary General of the Qatar University Sports Federation, confirmed that chess is one of the sports activities that contribute to developing the cognitive and mental abilities of male and female students, in line with the Federation’s slogan, “Sports inspires education.”
