His Excellency Sheikh Jassim bin Mansour bin Jabr Al Thani, Director of the Government Communication Office and Chairman of the Standing Committee to host the web summit, chaired the periodic meeting of the committee in Doha in the presence of representatives of the relevant government agencies and a number of strategic partners, to discuss the latest developments related to organizing the web summit Qatar 2026 in the period from the first to the fourth of next February.
His Excellency stressed, during the meeting, that the strategic partnership with the web summit comes within the state’s efforts to diversify its economy, accelerate the pace of digital transformation, enhance its position as a leading destination for technology and innovation in the region … indicating that the summit contributes to upgrading the technological scene in the country, opening broader horizons for entrepreneurs and emerging companies, and enhancing the position of the State of Qatar on the global scene.
He added that the great demand to participate in the web summit Qatar and the remarkable attention reflects the extent of the intense desire in the countries of the region to organize technological activities at this level, and that the hosting of the State of Qatar to the summit confirms what the state abounds in the global infrastructure, distinguished national cadres, and extensive experiences in organizing major international events, which would enhance its influencing position in the technology community and the innovation system worldwide.
The meeting dealt with a number of important issues, foremost of which are preparations related to the participation of the State of Qatar delegation at the 2025 Lisbon summit in November, and the importance of this presence in supporting the technological sector in the country, and introducing its environment in support of innovation on the international scene.
The committee meeting also touched on the plan to increase the number of participants in the third edition of the Qatar web summit for about 30 thousand participants, and the new discussion paths that will be added and include the new media summit, the sports summit, and the health summit, as well as discussing the names of the most prominent speakers and parties participating in the summit.
It is noteworthy that the web summit Qatar 2025, which was held last February, attracted 25 thousand and 747 participants, alpha and 520 emerging companies, and 723 investors from 124 countries, in addition to registering 325 thousand communication requests between the participants on the application of the summit, and with the expansion plans in the next year’s version, the summit will continue to establish its position as the largest technological event in the region, which contributes to achieving Qatar National Vision 2030 and enhancing the position of Doha As a global platform for technology and startups.
The State of Qatar will host the summit for a period of five years until 2028, which reflects confidence in the capabilities of the State of Qatar to host major global events, as Qatar is the first country in the Middle East and North Africa to host this event.
