The United States of America defeated Germany 2-0 today in the third round of Group 3 of the Davis Cup tennis tournament.
The US team managed to top the group stage by achieving its third consecutive victory, during the group competitions currently being held in China.
The US team had defeated Chile in the first round 3-0, then defeated Slovakia by the same score in the second round to secure the group lead.
In contrast, Germany came in second place after beating Slovakia in the first round 3-0, and Chile by the same score in the second round.
The two teams had secured their qualification to the quarter-finals, which will be held in Spain.
The first and second place teams in each group will qualify for the Davis Cup finals, which will be held in the Spanish city of Malaga from November 19 to 24.
