Ooredoo, the leading telecommunications company in Qatar, announced in an extensive press conference, held yesterday in the Salwa Hall of the Sheraton Hotel, the details of the Ooredoo Doha Marathon 2025 (choose your race), in the presence of Sabah Rabia Al Kuwari, Vice Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the Ooredoo Doha Marathon 2025, and Abdullah Marafi, Director Program Management at Al Kass Channels, and Moza Khaled Al Mohannadi, Member of the Marathon Committee and Director of Events and Strategic Media Department In Ooredoo. Note that the marathon will be held next Friday on the Doha Corniche, and will start in front of the Sheraton Park. The Ooredoo Doha Marathon 2025 is an exceptional opportunity that combines sports, entertainment, and charitable work, in an international sporting atmosphere on the Doha Corniche. The 42 km race starts at 6:00 am, while the 21 km race starts at 7:20 am, the 10 km race starts at 8:15 am, followed by the 5 km race at 8:40 am.
Sabah Al Kuwari said: We are proud that this event has received the gold mark from the International Association of Athletics Federations for the second time in a row, which is evidence of the quality of organization and commitment to international standards.
Al Kuwari confirmed that Al Kass Channels will be the official broadcaster of the marathon, and will provide comprehensive coverage via live broadcast throughout the race, after signing an agreement with Al Kass Channels Network.
Al Kuwari revealed the different categories of the marathon, noting that the competitions will include distances of 5 km, 10 km, 21 km, and 42 km.
Al Kuwari continued his speech, saying: Prizes will be distributed by handing over colored medals to the winners in the open category and the support category, in addition to financial prizes amounting to more than one million riyals. The prizes include two Toyota cars that will be drawn among the participants who finish the race, with a car allocated to the Support category to support the Qatari racers.
Al Kuwari explained that the number of participants in the race will reach about 15,000 participants representing 140 countries, including 1,300 competitors from outside Qatar.
Abdullah Marafi, Director of Program Management at Al Kass Channels, expressed great pleasure in the partnership with Ooredoo, saying: Covering this major event reflects our commitment to supporting local sports and enhancing its presence across our various platforms. We will provide comprehensive coverage, including a live studio and follow-up on social media sites. He added: We have an integrated work team that will cover the event in all its details, as coordination has been made with the organizing committee regarding the race route, starting and arrival points, and we are fully prepared to cover the event in its best possible way.
Moza Khaled Al-Mohannadi said: We are happy to partner with Al Kass TV channels as the official broadcaster of the Ooredoo Doha Marathon 2025. Preparations have begun early to ensure the organization of a distinguished event befitting Qatar’s status as a global sports destination. Al-Mohannadi confirmed that a new sub-event has been added, which is a race for children, which will be held on January 16 in Sheraton Park A. It also announced the opening of the “Marathon Village” on January 14, where the race bag containing the T-shirts will be delivered.
The marathon will be held with the support of the platinum sponsor: Visit Qatar, Al Abdulghani Motors, New Balance, Katara Hospitality, the gold sponsor, and the Korean Hospital, and supporting partners: the Ministry of Interior, the Athletics Federation, and the silver sponsor: Qatar Insurance Company, Elan, Rayan Water, and Communications.
