Qatar Energy opened the first day of the “Tawteen 2024 Forum,” which is held over two days with the aim of expanding the comprehensiveness of the “Tawteen” program and increasing its flexibility and benefit for all participants, in a way that enhances the localization of services and industries in the energy sector in the State of Qatar.
The forum provides a platform for communication between Qatar Energy and companies contributing to the local value program of the Tawteen initiative and to explore business opportunities and partnerships towards greater contributions to the local economy.
The forum’s activities also provide a valuable opportunity for a greater understanding of the local value program, which includes reformulating the equation for calculating local value to reflect a broader scope of companies’ contributions, as well as the inclusion of an additional reward points program for contributing in the desired areas for all companies, which ensures accurate calculation of the extent of the impact that each company contributes to. The forum includes working sessions that address the elements of the updated version of the local value program, the program’s accreditation certificates, future plans, standards for working with Qatar Energy, best practices for achieving local value for suppliers, models of investment opportunities and investor support, and other specialized sessions.
More than 4,000 participants are participating in the forum, which includes an exhibition of companies participating in the localization program that was announced in 2019, which aims to enhance the process of developing the local supply chain for the energy sector and expand the base of small and medium enterprises in the State of Qatar, in addition to achieving sustainable local value. A number of representatives of government agencies, engineering, supply and construction companies will also participate.
