Dr. Assem Mansour, Director General of the King Hussein Cancer Center – in Jordan – received the State of Kuwait Award for Combating Cancer, Cardiovascular Diseases and Diabetes for the Eastern Mediterranean Region, during the 71st session of the World Health Organization Regional Committee on November 14, 2024, in the Qatari capital, Doha, in honor of For his exceptional contributions to the fight against cancer.
The award was presented by the Kuwaiti Minister of Health, Dr. Ahmed Al-Awadi, in the presence of Dr. Hanan Al-Balkhi, Director of the Eastern Mediterranean of the World Health Organization, and Dr. Hanan Al-Kuwari, the Qatari Minister of Health.
Mansour said that this award is the culmination of a collective effort by male and female colleagues at the King Hussein Cancer Center and Foundation, local and international supporters, and above all our patients, from whom we learn lessons in resilience and fighting cancer, according to a statement from the King Hussein Cancer Center reached Al Jazeera Net.
Mansour has held the position of Director General of the Center since 2012, and was also appointed as Executive Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Jordanian Breast Cancer Program. He is a Consultant Diagnostic Radiologist, with a subspecialty in Neuroradiology, and holds a Fellowship from the Royal College of Radiologists (FRCR) in London, and a Masters in Healthcare Management from Carnegie Mellon University. He holds a Master’s degree in Public Health from John Morris University in Liverpool.
The Kuwait Cancer Control Award is considered one of the most important medical awards in the region, as it is awarded to individuals or institutions that make notable contributions to the fight against cancer through research, innovation, or providing distinguished medical services.
