The Indonesian Football Association announced the appointment of Dutchman Patrick Kluivert as the new coach of the Indonesian national team, succeeding South Korean coach Shin Tae-yong, who was recently dismissed.
The Indonesian Federation reported in a statement today that the new coach will coach the national team with a contract extending until 2027, with the option of extending for a longer period.
Kluivert is considered one of the stars of Dutch football and had a wonderful career as a football player. He also had some experiences in the world of coaching, the most recent of which was with the Turkish Adana Demi-Spor club, which was dismissed from coaching in December 2023.
Yesterday, the Indonesian Federation announced the dismissal of South Korean Shin Tae-yong, the former national team coach, based on extensive evaluations conducted by the federation’s management and the national team’s department regarding the team’s performance and the long-term goals that the Indonesian national team aspires to achieve, according to the federation’s statement.
It is noteworthy that the Indonesian national team occupies third place in the third group of the Asian qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup, with six points, and is one point behind the second-placed Australian national team, which it will face in Sydney on March 21.
