The Emir of Kuwait said in his speech at the opening session of the summit, today, that this comes through unifying policies, diversifying non-traditional sources of income, facilitating the movement of trade and investment, supporting local industries, and expanding the bases of innovation and entrepreneurship, especially in emerging fields such as artificial intelligence, in order to enhance the competitiveness of our countries’ economies. At the beginning of his speech, he extended his sincere thanks to His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Emir of the country, for his wise management and efforts made while His Highness chaired the work of the previous session.
In his speech, the Emir of Kuwait renewed his condemnation of the brutal Israeli occupation on the occupied land of Palestine, and the successive genocides against the Palestinian people, calling on the international community and the Security Council – in particular – to exercise its role, by ensuring the implementation of all relevant Security Council resolutions and an immediate ceasefire. He stressed the steadfastness of his country’s historic, principled position in support of the Palestinian people in their legitimate struggle to end the Israeli occupation on the occupied land of Palestine, obtain all their political rights, and establish their independent state on their land within the borders of June 4, 1967, with its capital (East Jerusalem) in accordance with the relevant international references and resolutions.
He renewed full support for all the contributions of the GCC countries to the stability of the region, including the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s leadership of the efforts aimed at recognizing the State of Palestine within the framework of the international coalition to implement the two-state solution, in addition to its hosting of the joint Arab-Islamic follow-up summit. The mediation role played by the State of Qatar, the Arab Republic of Egypt, and the United States of America for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
He praised what he described as the positive and constructive gestures expressed by Iran towards the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf, and expressed his aspiration that they would be reflected in the outstanding issues between Iran and all the Council countries, and to advance areas of cooperation to broader horizons, in light of the Charter of the United Nations, the conventions of international law, and the principles of good conduct.
