The International Olympic Committee today, Wednesday, granted the French Alps the right to host the 2030 Winter Olympics, provided that France provides the necessary financial and organizational guarantees for hosting.
The committee also announced that Salt Lake City in the United States of America won the bid to host the 2034 Winter Olympics.
The IOC Executive Board had recommended the two bids to host the next two Winter Olympic Games last June, but the decision had to be approved at the IOC meeting in Paris.
France, which is hosting the 33rd Summer Olympics, which officially open on Friday, hosted the Winter Olympics in Chamonix in 1924, Grenoble in 1968 and Albertville in 1992.
