Germany beat Chile in Davis Cup

The German national team achieved its second victory in the group stage of the Davis Cup tennis tournament, currently being held in the Chinese city of Zhuhai, after defeating its Chilean counterpart 3/0.
Germany secured the win in the singles, with Maximilian Marterer beating Thomas Barrios Vera in straight sets (6/1, 6/3), and Yannick Hoffmann beating Alejandro Tapello in straight sets (7/5, 6/4), before Tim Butz and Kevin Kravitz beat Marcelo Barrios and Matias Soto in straight sets (6/1, 6/3) in the doubles.
With this victory, the German team tops Group 3, which also includes the teams of the United States of America, Slovakia and Chile.
16 countries will compete in four groups in Manchester, Bologna, Valencia and Zhuhai, with the top two teams from each group qualifying for the knockout stage, which will be held in Malaga, Spain, next November.
