Mr. Abdullah Ali Al-Mutawa Al-Hammadi, Chairman of the Technical Committee and Director of Shooting Competitions at the Fourth Gulf Games, praised the strong technical levels presented by GCC shooters during the shooting competitions, whether in skeet, trap or rifle competitions, and the outstanding performance and high competitive spirit that has appeared since the start of the tournament.
Al-Hammadi said, in a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA), that the competitions witnessed similar levels between the shooters, which reflects the great development witnessed by the Gulf shooting sport in recent years, noting that the Qatari shooters presented a remarkable performance in the skeet and rifle competitions, and succeeded in achieving distinguished results and winning a significant number of colorful medals, which confirms their technical readiness and their ability to compete strongly in various competitions.
He explained that the shooting competitions witness the participation of an elite group of international referees with great experience. Their number exceeds 30 referees in various shooting competitions, including 20 referees from Qatar, while the rest of the referees from India, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Sultanate of Oman, the United Arab Emirates and the Kingdom of Bahrain participate, which enhances the strength of the competitions and ensures the application of the highest international arbitration standards.
The head of the technical committee revealed the system for qualifying for the final of the dirt competition, scheduled to be held tomorrow, Tuesday, explaining that the two best shooters from each country will qualify for the final, with a total of 8 shooters, stressing that the same system will be applied in the pistol competitions.
Regarding the mixed dirt competition, Al Hammadi explained that each country has the right to register two teams, but only the best team in terms of results will be able to qualify for the final, which will include four teams, each team consisting of a male and female thrower.
He said that the dirt competitions for the mixed team category will begin the day after tomorrow, Wednesday, where each team (thrower and thrower) will compete in strong competitions by shooting 150 plates, with the best four teams qualifying for the final.
At the conclusion of his speech, Al Hammadi expressed his hope that Qatari shooters would continue to achieve positive results and win more medals during the rest of the shooting competitions.
