The Federal Institute of Public Health in Germany said that washing hands is a simple and effective way to prevent infection, especially during the winter.
The institute explained that hands should be washed in the following cases:
- Before and after preparing food
- Before and after eating
- Before touching medications
- After using the toilet
- After blowing your nose, coughing or sneezing
- Before and after contact with sick people or treating wounds
- After contact with waste, animals, or pet food.
In order to clean the hands effectively and eliminate germs, the hands should be washed for between 20 and 30 seconds with soap, taking care to scrub the hands well, not only on the palm side, but also on the back of the hand, and the spaces between the fingers should be cleaned.
