Yesterday, Qatar Tourism announced the opening of applications for the second edition of the “Qatar Tourism Award 2024”, which continues until August 8, during a press conference held at the Rixos Premium Hotel on Qetaifan Island North.
The “Qatar Tourism Award” is an initiative launched by Qatar Tourism last year in cooperation with the World Tourism Organization (United Nations Tourism Organization), with the aim of honoring the most prominent contributions and efforts made by partners and individuals in the hospitality and tourism sectors to provide distinguished and exceptional tourism experiences in Qatar.
Mr. Omar Al Jaber, Acting Head of the Tourism Development Sector at Qatar Tourism, stressed during his speech that the launch of the second edition of the Qatar Tourism Award comes within the framework of celebrating excellence and appreciating institutions and individuals, which contribute to the success of the tourism industry and support the sector’s growth process, as it constitutes a basic condition for the continuity of providing unique experiences. For the first time, a direct voting mechanism will be used to choose a group of awards in this edition.

2.3 million visitors in 5 months
Qatar Tourism revealed that the number of international visitors reached 2 million and 320 thousand visitors during the first five months of the current year, with a growth rate of 9% on a monthly basis and 30.9% on an annual basis, exceeding the total numbers of international visitors in the year 2019.
The total number of visitors arriving to the State of Qatar during the month of May was about 311 thousand visitors, an increase of 9% on an annual basis compared to the same month last year.
Qatar Tourism data showed that the largest number of visitors were from the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, at 46 percent.
