Ministry of Commerce and Industry: 26.84 billion riyals, the contribution of manufacturing industries to the gross domestic product in the first half of 2025.

Data from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry showed that the contribution of manufacturing industries to the gross domestic product during the second quarter reached about 13.44 billion riyals, bringing its contribution to 26.84 billion riyals in the first half of 2025.
This came in a statement by the Ministry today, where His Excellency Sheikh Faisal bin Thani bin Faisal Al Thani, Minister of Commerce and Industry, chaired the third quarterly meeting to follow up on the Ministry’s performance for the year 2025, in the presence of His Excellency Mr. Mohammed bin Hassan Al Malki, Undersecretary of the Ministry, along with Their Excellencies Assistant Undersecretaries and Directors of Administrative Units.
The statement indicated that the meeting reviewed the most prominent achievements of the third quarter of the year, discussed detailed performance indicators for sectors and administrative units, in addition to examining existing challenges and reviewing proposed solutions to enhance the implementation of plans and programmes, in a way that contributes to raising performance efficiency and improving the quality of institutional work and services provided.
In the same context, a number of notable achievements achieved by the Ministry during the third quarter were reviewed, including the entry into force of the trade and economic partnership agreement between the State of Qatar and the Republic of Turkey as of August 1, 2025, which contributed to enhancing trade exchange and easing restrictions on investments, in addition to launching an electronic platform dedicated to presenting the program of partnership projects between the government and private sectors, and launching 20 new electronic services that include specific licensing services, market monitoring, competition protection, consumer protection and combating commercial fraud.
The statement confirmed that the third quarter witnessed the launch of the “My Companies” service of the single window on the mobile application, the launch of the voluntary review program for mergers and acquisition projects, the Ministry obtaining the Golden Shield and first place at the level of the government sector in the eleventh cybersecurity exercise, the merging of land, sea and air shipping activities into one commercial registry, in addition to the launch of the service for obtaining a temporary commercial license for service providers in the Sealine region, the launch of the updated version of the sector guide on industrial activities in the State of Qatar, and the issuance of a comprehensive guide to trade name procedures. Holding a public-private sector dialogue forum, strengthening the strategic partnership with the Korean Intellectual Property Office, and exempting some groups from the fees imposed on issuing or replacing a lost or damaged ration card.
With regard to the trade affairs sector, indicators showed a noticeable increase in performance during the third quarter of 2025, as the number of new commercial registrations increased by 81.5 percent compared to the same period in 2024, and the percentage of active main and subsidiary records increased by 18.1 percent compared to the same quarter of 2024, and the time frame for establishing a company was reduced to two days, and active commercial licenses recorded an increase of 6.79 percent compared to the same quarter of 2024. While 4,631 new non-Qatari companies were established.
In the same context, the single window platform witnessed the development of 5 new electronic services during the third quarter, bringing the total number of services developed to 13 services since the beginning of the year, and the number of transactions submitted through the platform during the third quarter reached 72,500 transactions, of which 89 percent were submitted electronically. The customer satisfaction rate with the electronic application service was 94 percent.
As for the industrial affairs and business development sector, the contribution of manufacturing industries to the gross domestic product during the second quarter amounted to about 13.44 billion Qatari riyals, bringing its contribution to 26.84 billion Qatari riyals in the first half of 2025. The readiness of 30 factories was also assessed within the smart industry readiness index during the third quarter.
With regard to improving the business environment, the Ministry succeeded, through its communication with the private sector, in identifying the challenges and problems facing it and resolving 35 percent of them. During the year, 12 partnership projects between the public and private sectors were studied, an increase of 3 projects from the second quarter of 2025, and 4 new projects were proposed, in addition to awarding one project during the third quarter.
As for the consumer affairs sector, the average number of specific licenses issued increased by 30.87 percent compared to the third quarter of 2024. The period for issuing specific licenses was reduced to one day during the third quarter of 2025, and the time period for requests for prices of goods and services decreased in the third quarter compared to the first and second quarters of 2025. The number of beneficiaries of catering services increased by 2.61 percent compared to the same quarter of 2024, and it also increased The number of feed distributors increased by 96.9 percent compared to the same period last year, and the safety levels and minimum strategic stock of food supplies and feed were reviewed. In addition to the success of the consumer sector in resolving more than 8,000 complaints received from consumers.
The performance report indicated that 73,747 inspections were carried out at the level of all administrative units of the Ministry during the third quarter of 2025, which reflects the Ministry’s keenness to ensure compliance with legislation regulating markets and enhance consumer protection.
At the conclusion of the meeting, His Excellency the Minister of Commerce and Industry stressed the importance of continuing to work according to a methodology based on efficiency and achievement, and supporting the process of digital transformation and service development, which contributes to enhancing the competitiveness of the national economy and achieving the goals of the Qatar National Vision 2030.
