The name of Portuguese Cristiano Ronaldo, the star of the Saudi Al-Nasr team and world football legend, has recently been linked to a move to the Mexican League.
Cristiano Ronaldo has been playing for Al-Nassr Saudi Club since January 2023, where he has been having a great season so far, bringing him closer to winning the league’s top scorer award with 29 goals, 5 rounds before the end of the competition.
For its part, the Mexican club Monterrey succeeded in eliminating the American Inter Miami, led by Lionel Messi, Ronaldo’s rival in the last twenty years, from the quarter-finals of the CONCACAF Champions Cup.
Monterrey beat Inter Miami twice, 2-1 in the first leg and 3-1 in the second leg, with La Pulga taking part in the second leg.
It seems that the exclusion of Messi and his teammates has motivated the Miami fans to demand the signing of Cristiano Ronaldo from the club president.
A video has been circulating on social media of a group of Monterrey fans talking to club president Jose Antonio “Tato” Noriega about the Portuguese and the possibility of signing him.
But the Monterrey president was firm and frank in his response, saying: “This is impossible. If the fans wanted to raise money for this to happen, then only in this case could we sign him – laughing.”
The difficulty in Cristiano Ronaldo’s move to the Mexican League lies in the huge salary he receives from Al-Nassr, which reaches 200 million euros per season, which makes it impossible for the club with limited capabilities to include him.
A move to Monterrey could be an enticement for Cristiano Ronaldo as they are a participant in the expanded 2025 Club World Cup as 2021 CONCACAF Champions League winners.
