Qatar Navigation Company (Milaha) (a Qatari public shareholding company) announced that its subsidiary, Halul Marine Services Company, won the engineering, supply, construction, installation and operation contract for the new fiber interconnection project with the North Oil Company.

The company said in a statement published on the Qatar Stock Exchange website today: The contract, whose value exceeds more than 262 million Qatari riyals, will contribute significantly to enhancing communication and data transfer capabilities within the energy sector in Qatar.

Under the terms of the agreement, Halul Marine Services Company, a leader in engineering, supply, construction, installation and operation services, will extend a new fiber cable system from the Kaaban area to Ras Laffan and from there to the Al Shaheen offshore field area.

The 140-kilometre-long cable will be extended using specialized equipment and bridges on the seabed.

Mr. Fahd bin Saad Al-Qahtani, CEO of Milaha Group, said that the latter’s selection by North Oil Company for this vital project is in line with the strategic objectives of expanding the company’s services package and contributing to the sustainable development of the State of Qatar.

He added, “By implementing an advanced fiber cable system, we will support digital transformation in the energy sector and increase the efficiency of operations.” This project will be supported by a team of skilled specialists and technical experts, reinforcing Milaha’s commitment to local employment and skills development in several areas.
