The activities of the Fifth Arab Military Sports Medicine Symposium, organized by the Qatari Military Federation under the supervision of the Arab Military Sports Federation, opened in Doha yesterday, under the patronage of His Excellency Lieutenant General (Pilot) Jassim bin Mohammed Al Mannai, Chief of Staff of the Qatari Armed Forces, with the participation of delegations from 16 Arab countries.
The symposium witnessed the presence of a number of sports and military officials and leaders, in addition to heads and members of participating delegations and representatives of the Arab Military Sports Federation.
Delegations from Jordan, Bahrain, Tunisia, Algeria, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Syria, Somalia, the Sultanate of Oman, Palestine, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, and Mauritania will participate in the symposium, in addition to the State of Qatar, the country organizing and hosting the event.
During his opening speech, Major General Dr. Yousef Dasmal Al Kuwari, President of the Arab Military Sports Federation, welcomed the participating Arab delegations, stressing the importance of Doha hosting this specialized gathering in the field of military sports medicine. He said: I am pleased and pleased, on my own behalf and on behalf of the Qatari Armed Forces, to welcome you, distinguished guests, to the State of Qatar on the occasion of organizing the activities of the Fifth Arab Military Symposium for Sports Medicine, in the city of Doha, under the patronage of His Excellency Lieutenant General (Pilot) Jassim bin Mohammed Al Mannai, Chief of Staff of the Qatari Armed Forces.
I am also pleased, as President of the Arab Federation for Military Sports, to record my pride and appreciation in the presence of (16) Arab countries that are members of the Arab Federation for Military Sports for this meeting, which is considered an occasion for the military sports federations in our sister Arab countries, as it is one of the important steps towards achieving the goals of the Federation, raising the readiness of members of the armed forces, and enhancing the sportsmanship among military sports federations in fulfillment of the Federation’s slogan “Brotherhood through Sports.”
Al-Kuwari said that the symposium represents an important occasion for military sports federations in Arab countries, and an effective step towards achieving the goals of the Arab Military Sports Federation, raising the readiness of members of the armed forces, and strengthening the bonds of brotherhood and cooperation between Arab military sports federations, under the federation’s slogan “Brotherhood through Sports.”
He explained that organizing the symposium aims to develop the physical competence of military personnel, enhance cooperation between military medical academies and sports departments in the Arab armed forces, in addition to exchanging medical and research expertise in the field of sports medicine.
Specialized hubs
The symposium activities include a group of lectures and specialized topics, presented by a group of experts and lecturers in the field of sports medicine, where the latest methods related to the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of sports injuries are discussed.
The symposium also discusses ways to qualify health and medical care personnel, exchange skills and training experiences, in addition to developing integrated visions for the system of physical training and professional qualification for military personnel in Arab countries.
Qatar’s hosting of this symposium comes within the framework of its keenness to support and enhance Arab cooperation in various sports, military and medical fields, and to benefit from Arab expertise and experiences, in a way that contributes to developing the sports medicine system and raising the level of physical readiness of military personnel. The symposium activities are scheduled to continue until September 11, through a program that includes scientific sessions, lectures and workshops, with the participation of Arab specialists and delegations.
