Tomorrow, Friday, the Qatari national team will meet its Bahraini counterpart in the opening match of the preliminary round of the second youth volleyball championship, which is being organized by the West Asian Volleyball Federation until August 25 in the city of Al Ain, UAE.
In the second group matches, the Jordanian and Lebanese national teams will also meet, and the UAE national team will meet its Palestinian counterpart in the tournament, which includes nine teams, divided into two groups.
The Qatari team is in Group One along with Kuwait, Syria and Bahrain, while Group Two includes the host UAE, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Palestine and Lebanon.
The first round matches of the tournament will be held in a single-round league system, with the first four teams from each group qualifying for the quarter-finals, which will be held in a knockout system.
The Qatari team will play its second match against its Kuwaiti counterpart the day after tomorrow (Saturday), and in the third match it will meet its Syrian counterpart on the twentieth of the same month.
The delegation, headed by Saeed Juma Al Hitmi, a member of the Board of Directors of the Qatar Volleyball Association, includes Santiago Garcia, the national team coach, in addition to 14 players: Mohammed Ashraf, Ahmed Adel, Badr Al-Zanari, Abdul Rahim Al-Sayed, Mahdi Zuhair Balhaj, Omar Ashraf, Mohammed Yasser, Tamim Mohammed, Mohammed Al-Yafei, Bilal Tariq, Mujtaba Taj, Khalil Al-Abd, Khaled Abdullah, and Ibrahim Khater.
