The Palestinian Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip revealed today, Tuesday, the need for about 6,000 victims who had their legs or one of their limbs amputated in the Israeli war on the Strip for urgent, long-term rehabilitation programs, calling for enabling these victims and others to travel for treatment abroad amid the lack of medical capabilities and supportive tools at home that increase their suffering.

The Ministry stated, in a statement, that the percentage of children out of the total number of amputation cases represents 25% of the total victims, while the percentage of women is estimated at 12.7%, stressing that these “horrifying” numbers reflect profound human suffering experienced by thousands of wounded people and their families, and highlight the urgent need for rehabilitation services and psychological and social support, especially for children who found themselves facing permanent disabilities at an early age.

It called on all international and humanitarian organizations and institutions working in the field of health and rehabilitation to intensify their efforts and expand their urgent interventions to cover the needs of the wounded and enable them to obtain the necessary care, commensurate with the scale of the humanitarian disaster that the Gaza Strip is experiencing.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza announced earlier today that the death toll from the Israeli aggression on the Strip had risen to 69,182 martyrs and 170,694 injured, the majority of whom were children and women.
