At a time when the UN warnings are still taking place regarding the humanitarian catastrophe in the Gaza Strip, numbers confirm that the starvation policy has become a fatal reality for children, in light of a tight siege for months and systematic prevention of food and medicine.
Modern international data indicates that more than a million children in Gaza are facing the risk of hunger, amid warnings of the outbreak of severe malnutrition between them at an accelerated pace.

According to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), children constitute the weakest and most affected segment of this crisis, with the aid to reach most of the sector as a result of strict Israeli military restrictions.

The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) reported that hunger has become a “horrific reality” that threatens the lives of hundreds of thousands of children, noting that more than 70,000 children in Gaza are suffering from severe malnutrition, while more than 5,000 children under the age of five were officially summarized in this situation during the month of May.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip announced that 20 people were martyred due to starvation during the past 48 hours.
The ministry warned that what is happening in Gaza is a systematic starvation policy followed by Israel and has so far resulted in 86 deaths due to hunger, including 76 children, which are numbers nominated to rise in the absence of therapeutic nutrition and the continuation of the siege.

Field reports also reported tragic stories about the infants who lost their lives days after eating herbal drinks only, in light of the loss of artificial milk and the lack of essential nutrients for breastfeeding mothers.

The World Food Program estimates that a third of the sector’s population has not been able to eat for consecutive days, while a quarter lives in famine -like conditions, which increases the fragility of the health and psychological situation for children and pushes them to the edge of danger.

For its part, the World Health Organization warned that the crisis is a candidate for rapid exacerbation unless it is allowed to enter food and treatment aid urgently.
She emphasized that more than 100,000 children and holders in Gaza are suffering from critical levels of malnutrition, which makes their lives in constant danger.
Israel accuses the use of hunger as a weapon, as international organizations, including “Amnesty”, documented evidence that the civil population is systematically starving, which is a flagrant violation of international law and promotes a crime of genocide.

In the absence of a political solution or an active international intervention, the suffering of Gaza’s children continues to exacerbate, while the world is satisfied with calling the calls.
While pictures of children who lost their weight, or breathed their last among their mothers’ arms, the voices of hunger in Gaza remain stronger than international silence and the most cruelty of any speech.
