Qatar Airways signs a memorandum of understanding with the United Nations for humanitarian affairs

Qatar Airways and the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) signed a memorandum of understanding following a high-level strategic dialogue between the State of Qatar and the United Nations. Qatar Airways is committed to working with the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs through joint activities in advocacy efforts, donations, cargo services, etc., within a unified program to help support humanitarian endeavours.
Engineer Badr Mohammed Al Meer, CEO of Qatar Airways Group, said that Qatar Airways is proud to work side by side with the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs to support the organization of humanitarian efforts, especially in times of crisis. The company’s shipping department provides services for transporting aid and relief materials in emergency situations through our network, which includes more than 170 countries and 70 shipping destinations. He stressed that Qatar Airways is committed to fulfilling its humanitarian role through cooperation and advocacy in the coming years.
“Ensuring that life-saving aid reaches people in need, wherever they are, requires cooperation between all parties at all times,” said the Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator at the United Nations, Mr. Martin Griffiths. Through this partnership, Qatar Airways is demonstrating how the private sector can help strengthen humanitarian work around the world.”
Accordingly, Qatar Airways and the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs will join forces to highlight global and regional humanitarian needs and enhance the coordinated response to humanitarian emergencies.
