Qatar Central Bank, in cooperation with the Qatar Airways Privilege Club, has provided an experience for Hamyan cardholders, allowing them to benefit from the club’s benefits, including earning Avios points, when using Hamyan prepaid cards and direct debit cards for their daily purchases.
In this context, His Excellency Sheikh Ahmed bin Khalid bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Thani, Deputy Governor of the Qatar Central Bank, stated, “This step embodies the commitment of the Qatar Central Bank to developing the national payments system and enhancing cooperation with partners in various sectors, in line with the objectives of the third strategy for the financial sector of the State of Qatar, and contributes to achieving the shift towards digital payments, and enhances the advantages of the “Hamyan” card as a safe and advanced payment tool within the State of Qatar.”
For his part, His Excellency Engineer Badr Mohammed Al Meer, CEO of Qatar Airways Group, said: “Our cooperation with Qatar Central Bank reflects Qatar Airways’ commitment to supporting the digital and economic transformation in Qatar. This initiative is in line with the Qatar National Vision 2030 by promoting national innovation and strengthening the country’s financial system through a local payment solution.”
He pointed out that the initiative allows Privilege Club members to collect Avios points, while contributing to an economy that maintains value within Qatar.
Hamyan cardholders will now be able to earn one Avios point for every 8 Qatari riyals they spend using their cards in electronic transactions or through points of sale. They will also benefit from offers to add cards to their Privilege Club membership account, where they will receive more Avios points for their purchases using the added “Hamyan” cards at Privilege Club partner outlets, which include a wide range of retail stores, restaurants, entertainment venues, modern lifestyles and other outlets in Qatar.
This initiative, launched by the Qatar Central Bank, enhances the added value of “Hamyan” cards, which are the national payment cards in Qatar, and is in line with the strategic direction of the Privilege Club, which is to provide new ways for its members to collect “Avios” points as part of their daily lifestyle.
This pioneering partnership, the first of its kind, is now available to existing and new Hamyan cardholders at National Bank, Al Rayan Bank, Commercial Bank, Doha Bank, Dukhan Bank, Qatar Islamic Bank, Qatar International Islamic Bank, and Qatar National Bank.
Privilege Club members can use the Avios points they collect for their purchases using Hemyan cards to obtain travel and lifestyle rewards of their choice. With the Cash + Avios service, they can enjoy the flexibility of partial payment using Avios points, and benefit from discounts on flights, travel class upgrades, additional baggage allowance, special holiday packages, and much more.
